Lucie Summers’ current work focuses on engaging with new materials, discovering ways of colouring and manipulating single use plastic with a variety of techniques. Translating abstract marks taken from the textures and surfaces found on the farm where she lives, Lucie produces beautiful individual ‘sequins’ from single use waste plastic that are hand sewn onto backgrounds, creating highly engaging and tactile pieces. Using her own visual language of repetitive marks and brushstrokes, her work aims to capture an essence of the natural rhythms of living on the land.
